Attorney James is a graduate of Duquesne University Law School where he was Executive Articles Editor of the Duquesne Law Review and graduated cum laude. Mr. James also received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Geneva College. Mr. James’ practice focuses on intellectual property, including patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution; litigation, negotiations, opinions, due diligence, and licensing.
Mr. James is a member of the Bars of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He practiced law with the Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Kirkpatrick & Lockhart firms prior to starting a private practice in 2002. Mr. James has served as a Board Member for the Pittsburgh Intellectual Property Law Association and as a Councilman for the Borough of Churchill.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. James served as Vice President of Operations for Voltec, Inc., where he was responsible for production of critical laboratory automation products, project management, application engineering, and field operations. Earlier in his career, Mr. James was a Principal Engineer for Honeywell, Inc. During his tenure at Honeywell, Mr. James designed systems for more than 100 automation projects including the automation of all facilities at Pittsburgh International Airport, a site with a single integrated system having more than 20,000 points, and was nationally recognized with his group’s highest technical honor.

Eric D. Ruka is Of Counsel. Before joining the firm, Mr. Ruka was an associate at Pennie & Edmonds LLP in New York City, where his practice focused primarily on patent matters. He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in the mechanical arts, including electromechanical, medical, and optical devices, as well in the chemical, materials, computer software, Internet, and business method fields. He has prepared patentability and freedom-to-use opinions on proposed client technologies, and has performed due diligence investigations of company patent portfolios. He has also participated in patent litigations involving mechanical, electromechanical, medical device, and business method technologies.
Mr. Ruka is a graduate of Vanderbilt Law School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
Mr. Ruka is a member of the New York Bar. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. |

Mr. Parikh’s practice focuses on domestic and foreign patent prosecution, patent infringement litigation assistance, and patent validity and infringement analyses for complex electronics technologies, as well as on other intellectual property issues involving patents, trademarks, copyrights and the Internet. Mr. Parikh also counsels clients on securing, maintaining and licensing intellectual property assets including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Mr. Parikh's technical expertise encompasses a broad array of complex electronics technologies in the areas of telecommunication systems, medical electronics, modern microprocessor architectures, digital photography, system-level designs, digital communications, computer software, MEMS devices, robotics and image processing, spectral imaging, and storage device technologies. Mr. Parikh also has substantial experience in securing patents on inventions related to business methods.
